Did you know that?
Murphy’s Brewery was founded in Cork, southern Ireland, by James J. Marphy in 1856. The second largest brewery in the country after Guinness (owned by the British group Diageo), it was bought by Heineken in 1983. Murphy’s brews mainly two beers: Murphy’s Irish Stout – a stout (Irish beer) with heavily roasted beans, similar to Guinness – and Murphy’s Irish Red, – an Irish Red Ale, the other Irish brewing specialty.
